40ft Open Top Shipping Container

The 40ft Open Top Container is a specialized logistics solution designed for oversized, heavy, or “out-of-gauge” cargo that cannot be loaded through standard end doors. Instead of a permanent steel roof, this unit features a heavy-duty, removable tarpaulin (rag-top) supported by a system of removable steel roof bows. This allows for seamless loading from above using a crane or overhead lift, making it the industry standard for transporting tall machinery, industrial boilers, and bulky raw materials.

Constructed from high-tensile 14-gauge CORTEN steel, the 40ft Open Top maintains the same structural strength as a standard unit while offering a “swing-out” rear header (lintel). This feature allows the rear door frame to be moved, giving you a completely unobstructed path for loading tall equipment. Once the cargo is secured, the steel bows and TIR-compliant tarpaulin are replaced to create a weather-tight seal for the journey.
